One good test-taking strategy is to answer questions you know first and skip the ones you are unsure of for closer inspection. However, this can be dangerous in a timed situation. Make sure you do the following when you "skip" a question to come back to later.
1. Put a star or check beside the test question you need to skip and come back to later. This will help you to quickly see which questions you were unsure of your first time through the test.
2. Circle the number of the question in the answer book. This will be a visual reminder for you to not leave it blank or fill in the circle for the following question.
3. If it's a reading test, revisit the questions you skipped before going on to the next reading selection. It will be more difficult for you to remember what you read if you read a new selection before answering all the questions for the previous selection.
4. Leave it blank until you come back to it!!! Skipping questions makes it easy to make a mistake!
5. Remember in the last five minutes of the test to clearly mark an answer! Leaving answers blank is more dangerous than taking a guess--and don't forget if you're guessing to choose B or C for your responses!
